Dear Friends,
In our first days and weeks of receiving Abraham, we sat several times every day and Jerry would ask questions. I called him, “The Question Asker of the World!” He had so many questions. At first, it seemed like they were coming from a long list that he had been pondering throughout his lifetime, but eventually, the questions were more often prompted by the things we were encountering as we were going through our day, and had to do with the injustice in behavior he was observing in others around us. Time after time, Abraham’s brief answer was, “That is not your work.” Jerry was always polite and respectful of Abraham and usually would leave it at that. Then another “That is not your work” and another “That is not your work” until finally, Jerry asked, “What IS my work?” And then Abraham would say, again, “You all attract the things that are coming to you. All of it. Every time. No exception.”
Over time, Abraham has offered us a stream of simple and easy to apply processes that continue to improve our life experiences and I have jumped in eagerly to every one of them and have personally received the benefit of the seeming magic they work in my life, but I have to say, this latest game we are playing with “The Inactive Box” is my all-time favorite. Abraham has been talking about it during the last several broadcasts and this morning as I was awakened into my day and as my mind began to move around from one topic to another, and as I felt my emotions responding to my thoughts, and as I picked up my pen and small notecard and wrote my first subject that I wanted to deactivate or render inactive, it hit me. That was what Abraham was doing with Jerry in the very first discussions they had together. Question after question about why that person would do such a thing, or which human behaviors are right and which are wrong, or why would such a thing happen to a person like that, or, or, or… THAT IS NOT YOUR WORK!
A huge feeling of relief washed over me as I realized how many things we consider, that bog us down, slow us down, cause us concern (and worse) that simply are not our work. And just as Abraham was guiding Jerry around those thoughts of resistance, our own personal feelings of negative emotions are guiding each of us all day, every day.
From now on, as I drop my cards into my INACTIVE BOX, of things I wish to render inactive I am going to say, “Because THIS is not my work.”
I am so loving life.
